Government Petrol subsidy for motorcycle in Pakistan ‘Sasta Petrol’
Miftah Ismail, the Finance Minister, announced the requirements for receiving the 'Sasta Petrol, Sasta Diesel' assistance package on Saturday. People with a monthly family income of less than Rs40,000 might text or phone 786 with their CNIC (computerised national identification card) numbers to receive Rs2,000, he added.
Miftah claimed the government's relief package, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled a day earlier, will help safeguard the poor from the "storm of inflation," at a news conference in Islamabad.
"We cannot offer comprehensive assistance because we lack the finances," he said, "but we will do everything we can to treat the wounds of the poor."
He stressed that the assistance package was open to everyone with a monthly family income of less than Rs40,000, not just motorbike owners. People who were already BISP beneficiaries did not need to email their information to 786 since they would receive the money automatically, he noted.
According to Ismail, 14 million families would benefit from the assistance plan. "Rs2,000 will be distributed in June at a cost of Rs28 billion to the government." This [package] includes 6.7 million families with poverty ratings of less than 37, in addition to the 3.3 million BISP recipients.
"7.3 million Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) recipients are currently receiving Rs2000, and the government is going to add 7 million additional people to the database who would receive Rs2000 in terms of gasoline subsidy," Miftah continued.
He stated, "This money will be provided to the poorest households." "We have the data and phone numbers of BISP users, and we will begin distributing funds to them on June 1."
